I was born in 1960 in Orange County, California. By the age of five we moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, where I grew up. Jesus found me in 1980 April 25 at 10:36 in the evening, facing south on my dad‘s bed in Glendale, Arizona. The years prior to that were filled with drugs, alcohol, promiscuity, and violence. I had been kicked out of two high schools and out of my mom‘s house where I then lived with my dad for a while. Starting at 10 years of age until I was 20, I was drunk or high or both every day of my life. After Jesus found me, my whole life changed. I fell in love with Jesus and chose to give him my whole life. Even though I never graduated high school, I was encouraged to go to college and pursue becoming a youth pastor, which I did. I graduated from Mid-America Nazarene University with a degree in theology and youth ministry, and Nazarene theological seminary with a masters degree in theology, Christian education, and youth ministry. During my time in college and seminary I was the youth pastor or part of the youth staff at Westside Church of the Nazarene. From there, my wife, Renee, and I served four years at Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene in Syracuse, New York. From there, we came to Bakersfield First Church of the Nazarene where I served as the youth pastor for three years. We left BFC in 1997. God sent us on a journey to plant a non-denominational church, Downtown Christian Fellowship, which we pastored for 10 years. God then led us to partner with a home church network. I also worked 19 years for Texico/Chevron during this time. In October 2022 God led us back to BFC where we became the youth pastors again and eventually God called me into the lead pastor position where I currently serve.

I was born in LA and attended a small church in Southern California. The beauty of growing up in a small church...

I was born in LA and attended a small church in Southern California and was exposed to all aspects of church life and ministry. I was raised on the concepts of service and ministry and was fortunate to have an army of elderly ladies who prayed for me daily. My faith was greatly influenced by that church and the music of the “Jesus Movement” that began to make its way into churches. Living in So Cal, I was fortunate to have a front row seat to some of the pioneers in Contemporary Christian Music. I eventually attended Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego and received a BA and teaching credential in Music Education. This led me to Bakersfield where I began my teaching career at Beardsley JHS and to BFC where I began to lead worship, work with youth and lead small group ministries. I am married to my high school sweetheart- Shelly and we have two kids (Amy and Kevin) and three grandkids (Alex, Lily and Hunter). My number one purpose at BFC is to help create an atmosphere where our people encounter the presence of God in worship and in their lives throughout the week. Thanks for checking out BFC!

I was born in Watsonville, California and grew up attending Watsonville Church of the Nazarene...

I was born in Watsonville, California and grew up attending Watsonville Church of the Nazarene until I attended Point Loma Nazarene University. While there I found a passion for the Old Testament and got my teaching credential. After college I moved back to my hometown and began my teaching career, serving kids with special needs. I continued to attend my home church and eventually heard my calling to ministry. I started serving in the children's and youth ministry. In 2022 God called me to Bakersfield to serve as the Children's Pastor here at Bakersfield First Church of the Nazarene. I have a passion for making sure kids know that they are loved by Christ and making them feel safe and secure. I have a foster son, Ian, and a pup, Baloo, both of whom I love very much!

I was born and raised here in Bakersfield. I grew up attending Bakersfield First Church of the Nazarene...

I was born and raised here in Bakersfield. I grew up attending Bakersfield First Church of the Nazarene and have been volunteering in various ministries since I was 13. At 14 years old, I was given a calling to ministry and started volunteering as a Sunday school teacher as "training" for ministry. I wanted to be a youth pastor, but got very involved with kids ministry. I quickly became a kids camp counselor and got even more involved at BFC. In 2019 I was officially hired as the Children's Director and served in that role for 2 years. In 2021 I was called to Oakdale, California where I was the Children's Pastor at Oakdale Family Church for another 2 years. In May 2023 I moved back to Bakersfield and helped care for my elderly grandparents. I returned to BFC and quickly started volunteering as a youth leader. In October 2024 I was hired as the office manager. I continue to volunteer in the youth group, am on the worship team, and lead our women's bible study.
